2012 End of Season Update
The initial year of a program such as a Show Team is always a period of growth, organization, teamwork, and learning. The Team in 2012 consisted of ten talented and dedicated young riders and their nine equine athletes, along with the coach/manager, barn owner, grooms, friends, parents and families, all of whom gave countless hours of fund-raising, organizing, driving and cheering in support of these young athletes. Each rider/horse combination saw their share of successes over the span of the summer season. New friendships were formed, skills learned and perfected, nerves conquered and ribbons won by all competitors. We also had several of our athletes take home both Reserve Champion and Division Champion at many of the competitions we attended!
Windspirit Farm riders represented the barn proudly at local and provincial-level competitions, mainly in the Hunter discipline. Our riders competed in Halifax, Windsor and Truro, completing a total of four one-day competitions and a final two-day competition that allowed them their first experience at an overnight show and the further horsemanship responsibilities that go along with it. These shows at the grassroots level provide valuable opportunities for developing riders to gain experience and miles in the show ring environment while enjoying the excitement and thrill of competition. Windspirit Farm is proud to support the provincial horse show scene here in Nova Scotia, and we hope to continue to do so in the future!
